Wedding Vows?
Does anyone know of a site for the official wedding vows, when getting married in New York at a non religious ceremony? Are they all pretty much the same? Can you make up your own vows completely?

- I'm not sure what they do in the States, but here in NZ when I met with the marriage celebrant, he gave us a little print out that had suggestions you could choose, or alternatively you can write your own vows. The only part you had to include was "I, Littlyau, take you, Aazron, to be my husband". As long as there is the statement of intent, then the rest we were able to make up ourselves. Double check with your celebrant, they will be the best person to help you out.
- I am a wedding officiant in NY, please feel free to visit my website which has many sample ceremonies. You can use them you you like any. NY laws basically ask officiants to make sure you state your intent during a ceremony. For instance saying you want to be his wife, or you want him to be your husband, etc. Good Luck!
- You can make up whatever vows you want. For example, we used the Quaker wedding oath and the Canadian Church wedding vow together, and it was really wonderful.
- Here are some sites that might shed some light, you can either go with traditional wedding vows or create your own (the two last ones are good, I think): http://www.weddingclipart.com/guide/wedding-vows/Traditional-Wedding-Vows.html http://www.alwaysweddingfavors.com/wedding_vows.htm http://www.trinitydreams.com/info/Weddings/wedding_vows.html http://www.myweddingvows.com/non-traditional-wedding-vows http://www.myweddingvows.com/personalized-wedding-vows Good luck! Hope this helped.
- Leagally, you have to have: "I, xxxxx, take you, xxx to be my husband" etc and that's the only line that is required.
- Not sure if this will help you with your specific location (NY) but theknot.com has great ideas for vows. I know my FI and I are going to write our own vows when the big day comes.
