Wedding readings?
Who should be doing the wedding readings at my wedding? Is there any rules or traditions of who usually does it and what it's supposed to be?

- no rules at all...or even that you have to have one. my friend used her fiance's sister. the sister said she couldn't afford to be a bridesmaid but wanted to do something she didn't have to buy an expensive dress for.
- Nope, it can be anyone you want. Some couples like to have one reader from each side (bride's side, groom's side), but that's not a hard and fast rule by any means. If you're having a religious wedding, then check with your officiant. Some religions want the readers to be a member of that religion. And many religions require that your readings be from the Bible, or their own sacred text. If it's a secular wedding, then you pretty much have free reign over who reads and what is read.
- No rules. Anyone you want. You can either have them pick out a reading or poem themselves (with your final approval) or you can ask them to read something you've chosen. Be sure to give it to them in advance so that they can get comfortable with it. Choosing someone comfortable speaking in front of groups is good! Have fun!
