Wedding Vows? Does anyone know of a site for the official wedding vows, when getting married in New York at a non religious ceremony? Are they all pretty much the same? Can you make up your own vows completely?
What is the difference between a wedding and a renewal of vows? I have been married for almost 2 years, but deployed to Iraq for most of it. When I get home in the summer, I want to have a nice wedding or SOMETHING to make it official and so families can get together (we got married at the courthouse with no witnesses). We've had some issues in our marriage that has broken our original vows, and now that we've worked them out, we'd decided on this wedding/vow renewal. Is there a difference between the two? Can you set up a renewal the same way as a wedding, or do I have this thing totally backwards or something? (By the way, both of us are agnostic, if that matters)
What are the procedures for renewing wedding vows in japan? My husband and I are already married but my inlaws werent able to make it to our wedding since they are stationed in japan. How would we go around renewing wedding vows? My wife and I have been married just under four years and would like to renew our vows. We want to renew our vows because when we got married we were going to get married in Poland where my wife was born and she really want to get married in the church her parents where married in. We couldn't because she was pregnant and unable to fly and then weeks after our wedding we lost our son. We could like to renew our vows next year in Poland in the church but we aren't sure how to go ahead with it all. I know most people don't renew their vows after four years.
Does anyone have any unique or special wedding vows to share? We want to get married in October on Sweetest Day of 2012. We want to say different wedding vows. I found some really nice ones on the internet a few years ago. Since our theme is Cinderella and it is in the Fall, I want some vows that my FH will really love to say to me on our wedding day.
Would you renew your wedding vows on 5th anniversary or just have a party for anniversary? We got married with out the family or friends attending. We had been married before and husband did not want formal wedding which was fine. Now im thinking that it would be nice to renew our vows on our 5th anniversary. Should I have a 5th anniversary party and after the party take a vacation and let go of the vow renewal? I just want to celebrate our marriage with our children and family.
Does anyone have good ideas for wedding vows? I'm looking for atheist wedding vows that are moderately short and simple. Humor is not necessary, but if they're really funny vows, then that's fine. Does anyone know good, simple vows? Thanks.

And do I need to invite people that I know won't come or even care that they come, like in a wedding? please help!!!
What is proper etiquette for gift giving for renewing wedding vows? I've been invited and confused what to do? A co-worker has invited me to her renewal of wedding vows. What is the proper etiquette in this matter? Do I give a gift or not? What is the proper attire? She is wearing a hawaiin dress that ties like a halter at the neck and some flowers around her head and ankle. Her husband is going to wear a lei. I've never been invited to one of these so I'm uncertain of the proper etiquette(s). The ceremony will be held in her home with approx. 50-75 guests.
Where can i find traditional catholic wedding vows? We went to our wedding rehearsal last night and my partner found repeating back the vows difficult as he was nervous, so i've been looking for them on the net so he can practise them and feel more confident on the day but cant seem to find them. Needing Ideas for a western theme wedding vows? We are having a very simple western church wedding. I am wanting any and all ideas for vows in a western theme. Websites or any vows any one has written with a western them to them is welcome. Thanks in advance.
Do people place value on their wedding vows? I'm paraphrasing the following: "Through thick or thin, through good times and bad...till death do us part." Considering the divorce rate these days (1 out of 2 marriages end up with divorce), I can't help but think that people "recite" those "vows" as just empty words. Do wedding vows mean anything? Think of what a "vow" is by definition: "a solemn promise, pledge, or personal commitment." What say you?
What can I do with our wedding vows? I want to do something neat with our wedding vows we said to eachother two years ago. Why do couples renew their wedding vows? Okay so why do couples renew the vows? Is it because things went sour somewhere throughout the marriage and they decided to work things out? or is it to live through another wedding day? or is it just for anniversaries? I know wedding vows don't have an expiration date or anything, it's just that I've never asked and no one's ever told me before.

Has anyone renewed their Wedding Vows in Rome? Interested to hear if anyone has renewed their Wedding Vows in Rome Italy, my wife and I intend to do this in Rome over Christmas this year, and would really like to know the best way to go about it, We are traveling from Ireland and have already contacted the Irish College in Rome who have given us a date, but really would like to hear from someone who has already done so in recent times. Do you think wedding vows should be read for everyone to hear, or just between the bride and groom? I know that traditionally they are read into a microphone, or said loudly enough for everyone attending the wedding to hear... But shouldn't the vows be something special and private between the bride and groom? I just think that the vows are something that should be kept between the two getting married, not read for everyone to hear! What do you think? :) I'm not getting married, just wondering :)
How long do you wait to renew wedding vows? My husband and I have been married for 3 years. We want to renew our wedding vows, but can't figure out an appropriate year to do it. Is 5 years of being married too early to renew vows? My wedding was rushed a little. My husband had gotten word that he was going to Iraq. The original date for the wedding was July 4, 2005, but was bumped up to December 20,2003. I had 3 weeks to plan! Not all my family and his family could make it on such short notice. It would be nice to renew our vows. I appreciate all answers.

When is the usual time when couples renew their Wedding Vows? I was just watching a movie where this couple did their wedding vow renewal at 42 years and I was wondering..is there like a precedent for when the vow renewal usually happens or is it basically up to each couple? Like I know there is a "Diamond" Anniversary, "Paper" Anniversary, things like that. Is there something like that for vow renewals? Thanks in advance! :)
What wedding vows do non-believers say at their wedding? Just wondering because whenever I get married how is that going to work? Of all the weddings I have ever been to they always say vows before God the whole time. What are vows that could work for non-believers/Atheists? And if you're marrying someone who is a bit of a believer and they wanted to say vows under God would you just say your own vows and they could say theirs?
What does it mean when you dream about wedding vows? I had a dream that I was getting married to my best friend (who is male) and he was reading out his vows to me and I was absolutely blown away at how beautiful it was. I remember this dream only because the vows that he was saying to me I actually wrote them down on paper when i woke up. I woke up by the time it was my turn to read my vows. Not only was I shocked that I was getting married to him but I was shocked at the vows he had written. What do you think this dream meant?
How many people is enough for a renewing of my wedding vows ceremony? I didn't have a wedding the first time, but what are the proper etiquette's, i guess, for this. I want to have a big one, but i know the basics not bachelor or bachelorette party, no wedding registry, but what's next. Between mine and his family, there will be 130+ people. And that's just close family and very few friends. Tooooooo many?
How to propose for a redo of wedding vows? I have been married for 17 years. Just recently my husbands 18 year old daughter joined our family. I would like to ask my husband to redo our vows. And ask his daughter and our children to do a sand unity ceremony. I am unsure how to ask him and his daughter to remarry me.....Any Ideas????
What does the Janitor say in his wedding vows to Lady? In the episode called "My Soul on Fire, Part 2" of Scrubs in season 9: What does the janitor say to Lady after dismissing "Van" from the wedding? He says he just wants to tell her something before they get married. I remember it being something really cute but could someone give me the full quote?
What is the difference between "question of intentions" and wedding "vows? I know that a bride and groom exchange vows...some books call when the preacher asks do you___ take ____ to be your etc. and then they each answer " I do" the vows while other places call that the question of intentions....are we supposed to answer " I do" and then repeat our vows or do we just do one or the other...i know its really whatever we want but.....what traditionally happens?
I've never read anything in scriptures about wedding vows? There were huge parties (receptions) somtimes, but what about actual wedding "vows"? It's almost like if they slept togther, that meant they were married (concubines). Even for Adam and Eve, there was no ceremony. Does this mean if a man and woman cohabitate they are married in Gods eyes? Please use scripture to back it up. Thanks.

Including children in wedding vows/ceremony? The father of my children and I are finally going to "tie the knot". We were planning a wedding when we discovered a few months down the line we were pregnant. At that point, the wedding was put on hold and the baby planning began. Now another child later, we would like to be legally wed. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to include our children in the vows or ceremony other than of course having them in the wedding? I've heard of the family medallion, but I understand that to be for blended families which ours obviously is not. . Any other suggestions out there that would recognize our children as we say our vows?
Where can I find traditional hawaiian wedding vows? I'm marrying my friends in June and it is a Hawaiian theme. I've searched many places on the web and can only find songs. I'm looking for either love/relationship poems or actual wedding prayers. I know they are out there, I just don't know where to look. I'd appreciate any help you could give me. Can you help answer a technical question regarding wedding vows? A friend of mine got married six months ago. Unbeknownst to him, his fiancee - now wife - turned out to be a raging lunatic. He's a stickler for adhering to his vows, and says that he agreed to marry "for better or for worse." I told him that if he truly believes that she is the "worst" - not just "worse" - that he ought to be able to divorce her with a clear conscience. He did not say "for better or for worst." He thinks I'm being way too technical. What do you think?
How are you going to (did you) say your wedding vows? Will you repeat after the officiant? Or will you say "I do"? And how did you decide which one? My fiance and I don't want to write our own vows, we would really like to stick a little closer to tradition on this one. But I just can't decide if we will do the whole "I do" thing or repeat the vows one at a time.
